About Us

Welcome to Fitzroy Medical Centre. We are located at 201 Fitzroy St, sharing a building Melbourne Physiotherapy, Pilates + Fitness Group. There is ticketed parking available at front of practice, and at the rear of the practice on Pattison Street.  and for those using public transport the 96 trams stops right across the road. Tram lines 3, 3a, 5, 16, 64, and 67 stop within walking distance,as do bus lines 246, 250, 600, 922 and 923.

All consultations are by appointment only.  Walk-in appointments are available for emergencies only. If you need a doctor outside of these hours, please contact our Locum Service, Your Health Place, on 9671 1200.

Our Health Professionals

Dr Bhavini Patel (GP) practices Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. She is a Fellow of the Australian College of General Practitioners. She has a special interest in Sexual health, family planning, mental health, chornic disease management, asthma, diabetes, preventative health, musculoskeletal disorders, gut disorders and women’s health.

Dr Grant Burns (GP) practices from Tuesday-Friday. He joined our practice in 2019. He has a special interest in men’s health, chronic disease management and preventative health.

Dr Khatibi is experienced in all aspects of General Practice and has a special interest in the management of complex and chronic conditions. She has achieved the high status of a Fellow of the Australian College of General Practitioners.

Our Fees

Fitzroy St Medical Centre is a bulk billing clinic, so if you have a Medicare card, there will be no charge for most visits to see your doctor.

The exceptions would be a private flu vaccination, which is $20.00

For minor procedures, such as dressings and cryotherapy, which ranges between $60.00 to $105.00 depending on the complexity of the procedure and if it takes place inside or outside of regular business hours.

For Implanon removals and insertions, the out of pocket fee can range between $115-$215 depending on complexity.

Information sheets are available for further clarification at reception.

If you are not eligible for a medicare card, you will be charged a private fee, which must be paid at reception prior to your appointment as a flat rate of $85.00

Medical Reports will incur an out of pocket cost, depending on the complexity of the report. Other types of consultations will be charged at the discretion of your doctor, as applicable.

Privacy

When you register as a patient of our practice, you provide consent for our doctors and practice staff to access and use your personal information so they can provide you with the best possible healthcare. Only staff who need to see your personal information will have access to it. If we need to use your information for anything else, we will seek additional consent from you to do this.

Ensuring your information stays private is paramount. Our practice abides by the Australian Privacy Laws and Principles and follows the guidelines of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioner’s Handbook for the management of health information in general practice. If you would like a copy of our Privacy Policy, please ask our receptionist.

Patient Feedback

Your feedback is important to us. It helps the practice to continually improve. A suggestion box is provided in the waiting room or you can speak to the receptionist, phone or email us with your suggestions.
